Living Hybrid studies

Year: 2010

Stills from the Living Hybrid series that introduce bambusa major multiplex – a conceptualized vision of a morphed bamboo bio-structure and habitat. This series combines a nod to the sublime, surreal interiors of Frederick Kiesler’s Art of this Century galleries and the biomorphic curves and ramps of Oscar Niemeyer’s MAC. In the spirit of optimistic invention, design , the series re -imagines the city of Eudoxia described in “Invisible Cities” by Italo Calvino. Included are drawings from 2009 and 2011 layered with photographs of bambusa gigante at the Jardim Botanico in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Drawings – digitized color pencil on hemp paper and photo of bambusa gigante and colored pencil on tracing paper.
